Glider Operations Staff

The MIWG Glider Program is staffed by cadets and seniors who have a passion for aviation and glider operations. Anyone interested should contact any of the staff members below and express an interest in volunteering.

 

Operations is divided out into the following categories:

Tow Plane Pilot: FAA licensed pilot who has experience flying and towing a glider and is currently CAP certified to fly (CAP Form 5)

Glider Pilot: FAA licensed glider pilot who has experience flying a glider and is currently CAP certified to fly (CAP Form 5)

Passenger Handling: Gets the cadets in and out of the glider. Manages safety harness and cockpit familiarization.

Glider Hookup: Retrieves the tow rope and secures it to the glider. Confirms security of the tow rope.

Tow Plane Hookup: Retrieves the tow rope and secures it to the tow plane. Confirms security of the tow rope.

Admin: Weights cadets and keeps track of cadet launch and recovery times. Record keeping for WMIRS entries.

Crew Leader: Usually the most senior member of the team. Works one of the four operations positions.
